Thermo Electric has for decades supplied temperature elements and measurement systems to the steel and glass industries for all of the processes in, for example, coal grinders, sintering plants, blast furnaces and glass furnaces. In these applications, temperature measurements are carried out up to 1500°C.

In glass furnaces, the temperature sensors used include those protected with a platinum sleeve. Thermo Electric supplies ceramic insulating sleeves with a vacuum evaporated platinum protective coating. This technique results in considerable savings in the total volume of precious metals used and therefore also in costs.
