Thermo Electric Instrumentation is excited to announce that we have once again been successful in the renewal process of our CSAus certification for electrical equipment used in hazardous locations. This certification is essential for ensuring that our temperature measuring assemblies meet strict safety standards and are designed to operate safely in potentially explosive atmospheres, where required. Safety is of utmost importance in hazardous locations, where the risk of explosion or fire is present due to the presence of flammable gases, vapours, or dust.
In addition to CSAus, we also hold other important certifications, including ATEX, IEC, CCC and KTL:
- ATEX: The ATEX directive is a European Union standard that applies to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. ATEX certification covers two categories: Category 1 equipment is for use in Zone 0 and 1 areas, while Category 2 equipment is for use in Zone 2 areas. The ATEX standard specifies requirements for the design, construction, and testing of equipment to ensure that it can operate safely in hazardous environments.
- CSAus: CSAus is a North American standard for electrical equipment used in hazardous locations. The standard is recognized in both Canada and the United States and covers equipment used in areas where there is a risk of explosion or fire due to the presence of flammable gases, vapours, or dust. CSAus certification includes requirements for design, construction, testing, and certification of equipment to ensure that it meets safety and performance requirements.
- IECEx: The IECEx certification is an international standard that is recognized in many countries worldwide. IECEx certification covers equipment used in explosive atmospheres, including Exd equipment. The standard includes requirements for the design, testing, and certification of equipment to ensure that it can operate safely in hazardous environments.
- CCC: The China Compulsory Certification (CCC) is a mandatory certification system that applies to a wide range of products imported, sold, or used in China. The system is designed to ensure that products meet certain safety, health, and environmental protection requirements before they can be sold in the Chinese market.
- KTL: KTL is a Korean certification that applies to equipment and protective systems used in potentially explosive atmospheres. KTL certification includes requirements for design, construction, testing, and certification of equipment to ensure that it can operate safely in hazardous environments.
Each of these certifications specifies unique requirements for equipment used in hazardous locations and helps to ensure that our Ex temperature sensing assemblies meet the appropriate standards and regulations for use in these environments:
Having these certifications is important to us for many reasons, including compliance with regulatory requirements, international recognition, reliability, and cost savings. By meeting the requirements of these standards, we can ensure that our equipment operates safely and reliably in hazardous environments, reducing the risk of accidents, downtime, and equipment damage.
At Thermo Electric Instrumentation we are committed to meeting and exceeding the highest standards for safety, quality, and reliability. Our certifications, including our renewed CSAus certification, are a testament to this commitment, and we remain dedicated to providing our customers with the safest and most reliable equipment for use in hazardous locations.
